Training on legislative procedure held

ITANAGAR, Dec 21:  Two days training programme for officers and officials of Legislative Assembly Secretariat was held at Nokmey Namati Hall on Dec 20 and 21. The training programme was inaugurated by Speaker Wanglin Lowangdong. Dr Subash C Kashyap, former secretary general Lok Sabha and Member Secretary Constitution Review Commission and R Kothandaram, Former Secretary Goa Legislative Assembly attended as resource persons. They  delivered lecturers on wide range of legislation procedure and workshop on Bills, according to an official release.

 

Film festival

NHARALAGUN, Dec 21: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in collaboration with the Directorate Information and Public Relations has proposed to conduct a three-day festival of award winning documentaries, shorts and Animation of Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) at Itanagar, tentatively in the month of April 2014.

 

‘Stop rampant appointment of GBs

ITANAGAR, Dec 21: The All Arunachal Pradesh Gaon Bura Welfare Association (AAPGBWA) in a memorandum to the chief secretary sought his intervention to stop ‘fresh and rampant appointment’ of GBs by deputy commissioners and ADCs in various districts at the behest of public and political leaders in violation of the GoAP’s standing order (No DAD-80/2005, dated 16.04.2008).

In its one-point memorandum, the  Association further  said that there were 7939 GBs in the state in 2008, and their number has now risen to 10,000 due to rampant appointment. Such unnecessary appointment ‘is causing uneasiness among genuine GBs, and experts/orators of local tradition and custom,’ it said.

 

AACS celebrates foundation day

ITANAGAR, Dec 21:  The Arunachal Anti-Corruption Sena (AACS) today observed its foundation day in a befitting manner at Nirjuli. Hundreds of Sena activists and youths attended the function.

Speaking on the occasion AACS president Serpi Flago highlighted the objectives of the organization. He also stated that rampant corruption in the state is taking place especially in hydro power, education and rural development sectors including PDS and back-door appointment. He also asserted that organization would continue its fight against corruption in all spheres so that transparency and corruption free system restored.

 

Niba Hospital Celebrate its 13th foundation day

ITANAGAR, Dec 21: Niba Hospital celebrated its 13th foundation day in a very humble way by conducting a free health camp for the children and staff of Oju Mission School today.

Apart from health checkup, the hospital also conducted hepatitis screening and ABO grouping for all and provided free medicines for the children.

Marking the day, Dr Nirmali also announced adoption of “Oju Mission for Healthcare” by Niba Hospital.

Niba Hospital was established on December 21, 1999 with very limited infrastructure. The hospital was setup with an aim to provide the best healthcare facility to people and to contribute towards building a healthier society. Since its inception it has worked tirelessly towards providing quality healthcare to people. The hospital has also conducted numerous health camps in remote areas and is associated with charity program like “Smile train” where patients from poor family can get cleft repair surgery for free. So far more than 400 surgeries have been carried out, informed a hospital release.

 

Authorities urged to take action

ITANAGAR, Dec 21: Taking serious note of the growing cases of alleged manhandling/harassment meted out to the workers engaged in enquiry centres of various departments like Power, PWD, PHED in Capital Complex, Itanagar especially during night hours,  All Arunachal Pradesh Workers’ Union (AAPWU) today strongly appealed the state government particularly administration and law enforcing authorities to look into the matter and initiate needful measures to check such incidents.

The Union threatened to launch democratic movement if the authorities fail to initiate steps to safeguard the life and property of workers. Further, it appealed the citizens to cooperate with the workers for betterment.

 

Khimhun urges teachers to shoulder responsibility

CHANGLANG, Dec 21: Parliamentary secretary Trade and Commerce P Khimhun inaugurated a new primary school Building at New Sohelaktong village in Kantang Circle yesterday.

Speaking on the occasion Khimhun urged the villagers to maintain and safeguard  the school assets. He directed all the villagers to send their children to school by the next session. Khimhun also asked the teachers to shoulder responsibility or else stern action will be initiated against them.

Responding to the one point memorandum for establishment of Health Sub-Centre in the village, Khimhun assured to take up the matter with the appropriate authority on priority. Ex ZPM Changlang South John Jugli, Circle Officer Kantang Bamin Tarang, DDSE H Loyi, EE PHED J Loyi and ASM Thanglang Tangha and senior public Leader C Tekhil  also spoke on the occasion.

 

Changlang DC visits Khimiyang circle

CHANGLANG, Dec 21: Changlang Deputy Commissioner Chanchal Yadav made a surprise visit to Khimiyang circle on Dec 18. She inspected Bubang Middle School and Government higher secondary school Yanman. She took note of those teachers who were absent from duty without prior information and warned them of stern action. She also visited infrastructure development of EAC Hq Scheme in the circle. Yadav also noted the delay in the implementation of various central sponsored schemes in the circle and directed the PWD and electrical department to expedite the work in this working season.

Yadav with SP Changlang Vijay Kumar also visited the site for the construction of Police Station and infrastructure of the police department in the circle. Interacting with the villagers Vijay Kumar informed them that Police station will soon be coming up as soon as the construction work is completed. Authorities urged not to conduct public hearing

ITANAGAR, Dec 21: All Libo Bokar Ramo Students’ Union (ALBRSU) has called upon the state government and concerned authorities of various power projects not to conduct any more public hearing in entire Mechukha Sub-Division until and unless the remaining formalities of already conducted public hearings are completed. The Union, in a release, lamented that till date more than six power project developers have successfully conducted public hearing in the area, however, there was no progress in the project sites and remaining formalities are yet to be done.

 

Posting of regular PWD EE  demanded

ITANAGAR, Dec 21: Claiming the PWD Sangram Division in Kurung Kumey district has no regular executive engineer since last three years, All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) Kurung Kumey District Unit today demanded regular executive engineer saying that unavailability of officer crate havoc among public contractor. In its representation to the Chief Minister, ANYA KK Unit sought for early redressal of its demand.

 

Posting of CO sought

ITANAGAR, Dec 21: The Phasang Area Inhabitant Welfare Association today demanded immediate posting of the circle officer at Lungsa. It said that Nyapin circle has been created way back in 2000 with circle headquarter at Lungsa. However since the creation of circle no circle officer has been sent till date. The association further claimed that due to unavailability of CO, the important national events like Independence Day and Republic day  have never been celebrated at Lungsa. In a representation to the local MLA it urged the MLA to look into the matter.

 

Annual NSS camp

ITANAGAR, Dec 21: The NSS unit of Saint Claret College undertook their first annual NSS camp and awareness campaign of 2013 in Bulla-Reru villages of Ziro Valley in Lower Subansiri district yesterday.

As part of the camp, 70 Claretines under the leadership of NSS Program Officers Withoam Socia and Tasso Tagia, assembled in Reru village and organized a cleanliness drive. They cleaned up drainages and roads along the length and breadth of the village. The principal and vice principal of the college also joined with the students in the cleanliness drive.

The Department of Urban Development provided a vehicle (truck) for disposal of the garbage.

The people of the village welcomed the efforts of the NSS volunteers. Many Gaon Buras, women, and members of the youth associations participated, encouraged, and appreciated the volunteers for their service in the severe cold weather which was further intensified by periodic drizzle.

Drive against illegal timber operation

Huge quantity of illegal timber seized

ITANAGAR, Dec 21: A huge quantity of illegal timber/logs have been seized/recovered from Goloso, Jolly and Lanka areas of Seijosa in East Kameng district during a joint drive conducted by Dibru Village Forest Development Council (Du.VFDC) with forest officials, Seijosa Range, Special Task Force (STF), Pakke Wildlife, Police personnel, PRI members and GBs of the concern area. The massive drive was conducted in view of the reported illegal timber operation by some timber mafia from Assam in connivance with ‘influential’ local people.

According to Du.VFDC release, more than 800 pieces of illegal timber/logs are still lying in the area which could not be smuggled due to timely intervention. It was found during the drive that the smugglers had been using a secret/unrecorded road for transportation of such illegal timber to Assam.

Meanwhile, the Du.VFDC appealed to the authority concerned to initiate immediate measure to check the illegal timber operation and to block the said road at the earliest. The Society also appealed to those local people to refrain from indulging in such illegal activities.

 

 

Tuki urges people to work together for development

SAKIANG (Papum Pare), Dec 21: Stage is all set for the forthcoming Assembly as well as Parliamentary elections as far as remote Mengio sub-division in Papum Pare district is concerned. Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, under whose constituency (Sagalee) the area falls, travelled by road from Kullung, the last motorable village, to Sakiang, the administrative center, visiting and addressing the people along the way yesterday. He was accompanied by Lok Sabha MP Takam Sanjoy eyeing a second term in the Parliament and Parliamentary Secretary for Planning Nabam Rebia.

The slogans, banners and turn-out of hundreds of rural-folk ensured that Tuki is heading for an easy ride this Assembly elections while for Sanjoy it was literally a pre-campaign trail before the Parliamentary Elections are declared next year.

At Kullung, Tuki laid the foundation stone of RLR from Kamrung to Tapo-Paga village. The road from Sakiang, which is yet to be black-topped, ends at Kullung, while there are three more villages further up. The Kamrung to Tapo-Paga road will ultimately link the said three villages with rest of the world once completed.

The Chief Minister also dedicated the Laal Ane Community Reserve Forest to the people of Megang Panchayat. He observed that the area – virgin forest and a huge natural lake – could be preserved and promoted as a tourist destination for nature lovers.

On the way from Kullung to Sakiang – a distance of about 24 kms but takes more then an hour – the CM’s entourage stopped at Kamrung and Old Mengio, where the leaders addressed small but impressive gatherings listening to the needs and grievances of the villagers.

Reaching Sakiang in the evening, Tuki inaugurated the newly constructed Circuit House and later joined a cultural programme in the community hall.

Early this morning, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for a steel bridge over Panior River while the MP laid the foundation for a 15 km road from Pilla (Sarchgai) to Sakiang to be constructed under NLCPR. The Switch Yard of power department was also inaugurated in the day. The Chief Minister also watched the first micro-chip being implanted in a Mithun and gave away the certificate of ownership to the Mithun’s owner. A concept of the veterinary department, the micro-chip will electronically establish the ownership of the animal thus simplifying the identification process of the semi-domestic animal.

Addressing a public rally later on the day, Tuki called upon all to shed their petty differences based on party affiliations and work together for development of the area. He said the area, despite its proximity with the state capital, has a lot to catch-up with rest of the state in terms of development in all spheres.

He, though candidly, sent a clear message that Congress would come back to power both in the state as well as in the center and appealed all to support party candidates both in the Assembly as well as Parliamentary elections.

Sanjoy and Rebia hailed people of Sagalee Assembly constituency for giving the state one of its most efficient Chief Minister in Nabam Tuki. They assured their cooperation and support to Tuki and appealed the people to give Tuki a free-hand from his responsibilities as the local representative so that he can take the whole state to newer heights of development for which the foundation has been laid in the last two years.

On the occasion several panchayat leaders elected as Independent or from other parties joined INC, who were greeted and welcomed by the Chief Minister.

 

 

50 attend opium de-addiction camp

ITANAGAR, Dec 21: Cultural and Literary Society of Mishmis (CALSOM) conducted 15 days opium de-addiction camp in Hayuliang under Anjaw district from December 8 to 21. The camp was attended by 50 opium addicts including 12 women from Lohit and Anjaw districts.

The enthusiasm to get rid of opium addiction was seen in women as some of them attended the camp with their kids. The technical support for the camp was provided by a team from treatment cum rehabilitation center, Arunachal Pali Vidyapeeth Society, Chongkham.

Yoga and meditation along with medication were conducted for the participants besides recreational activities, like volleyball, carom and chess.

Counseling was done by former opium addicts, who now lead a healthy and normal life after getting themselves rid of opium addiction.

All the counselors opined that a strong will power was needed to give up with the habit of opium consumption apart from medication. During the course of counseling, they cautioned the participants not to indulge in drinking after the conclusion of camp, as it would ruin them mentally, physically and financially.

It was observed during the camp that most of the males became addicted to opium out of leisurely pleasure, but in case of women, they became addicted to opium for medical reasons as they had initially used opium for treating ailments like stomach pain, dysentery and other body pains. Some participants confessed to have consumed opium for the past 20 years.

Some prominent Panchayat members of Anjaw, who included three ZPMs and two ASM chairpersons during their visit to the camp interacted with the participants. They praised the participants for their wise decision to give up opium and opt for a healthy life. They also distributed health drinks and fruits to the participants.

At the end of the camp all the participants pledged not to take opium in the future and also to encourage other people in their villages to refrain from taking opium.

The menace of opium addiction could be mitigated by pro-active role of government and all the stake holders of Mishmi society, CALSOM said in a release.

CALSOM Chairman Bajai Pul appealed to the government for establishment of at least one de-addiction center each in the Mishmi inhabited areas of Anjaw and Lohit district.

Meanwhile the society thanked MLA and chief patron of CALSOM Kalikho Pul for providing moral and financial support for conducting the camp and Hayuliang ADC RKBorthakur for providing necessary logistical support for the smooth conduct of the camp.

 

 

PPA kick starts poll campaign from its birth place

ITANAGAR, Dec 21: The Peoples Party of Arunachal (PPA) sounded its poll bugle on December 18 from Pasighat the birth place of the first indigenous political party on 10th April, 1977.

Paying rich tribute and homage to the founding fathers of the Party mainly Lt. Bakin Partin, Lt. Tomo Riba and Lt. Oken Lego, the rank and file of the party led by its president Nikh Kamin,  Working President Kahfa Bengia, Working Committee chairman Kamen Ringu, PPA Chief Ministerial candidate Laeta Umbrey and other senior leaders also called on  Osor Pertin, wife of Lt. Bakin Partin, Tapum Jamo the former PPA MLA and other senior party functionaries in Pasighat and Nari Koyu Assembly  constituency.

Addressing a huge public who gathered to witness the victory party of PRI leaders expressing their support to Party’s State Women Council President Kenyir Ringu, Nikh Kamin set the poll strategy rolling by disclosing that the PPA would field potential and winnable candidates in all the 60 Assembly constituencies and also the two Parliamentary seats.

Stating that the people of state are yearning for a change and doing away with the high Command culture of the Delhi based national political parties, Kamin urged the people  of the Nari Koyu Assembly constituency to dethrone the Congress in 2014 Assembly elections.

Party Patriarch Kamen Ringu appealed the people of East Siang to take the lead in rebuilding the destiny of its own ‘abandoned child’.  Siang being the basin for starting all good things, the people of the Siang valley have very special role to play in rebuilding its own Party, he said.

Kahfa Bengia asserted that it is only the PPA which can bring a permanent solution to the issues of border disputes with neighboring Assam. He further said that the controversy over district headquarter issue in Lower Siang district  and the messed up issues of PRCs and Chakma and Hajong  refugee issues created by Congress and BJP can only be solved by PPA. Bengia said that the virus of political defection by MLAs would be soon put to an end and people would repose its faith in its own party and leadership.

Citing the reports of the present RBI, Governor categorizing Arunachal and Assam as the least developed states in the country, Laeta Umbrey asserted that it is only the Regional Party which would understand the true aspirations of its people and accordingly design policies and programmes by sitting at Itanagar and in District headquarters. He further stated that the massive annual plan allocation of about Rs 4000 Crore by the planning commission is only in paper, as more than half the allocations are misappropriated and pocked by the fortunate few in power.  Umbrey further informed that PPA is seriously preparing its vision documents for 25 years and election manifesto for 5 years involving the University professors and intelligencia.

Shopping Complex and women hostel inaugurated

Jairampur, Dec 21: A new era of progress and prosperity has been heralded in Jairampur sub-division with the inauguration of 3-storey shopping complex and unemployed women hostel by Urban Development and Town Planning Minister Rajesh Tacho at Jairampur new market and New Khamdu village amidst thunderous cheers of the general public  today.  These two  significant infrastructures were built at whooping cost of Rs 6.5 crores under Housing Urban Poverty Alleviation scheme and DUDA Jairampur accomplished the project successfully.

Dedicating the women hostel and shopping complex to the underprivileged women and unemployed youths Tacho hoped that  the newly built infrastructure  will help  them to earn their livelihood. He also expressed immense pleasure in visiting the sub-division and termed the Tangsa hospitality as the warmest.

“If we utilize properly the natural resources spread over here, it can benefit the entire state”, he opined.

Agriculture Minister Setong Sena lamented about growing unemployment problems, however, he also expressed the hope that the newly inaugurated shopping complex  would minimise  the problem by offering opportunity of self-employment to the unemployed youths.

Recalling the scenario of a decade ago, Sena said only two to four shops were in Jairampur but today it has not only grown manifold but also counted as the best commercial zone of the district.

"Almost everything found in big towns can be found today in this market," he added.

Sena also requested his cabinet colleague to allot two schemes in Jairampur - renovation of sub-divisions drainage system and flood protection wall to protect the sub division from the fury of Namchik (Terik) and Tirap Rivers.

Sena asked the DD and ADC to allot the shops and hostel as early possible to the unemployed group so that they can start earning their livelihood.

He also applauded DUDA Jairampur for accomplishing the project successfully.

ZPM Tusam Longri requested the urban minister to sanction schemes to repair the link road that leads to the newly inaugurated women hostel and replace the wooden bridge to concrete one as it connects the village with rest of the town.

Meanwhile, on behalf of general public, eastern parliamentary youth congress president James Jugli submitted a one point memorandum to the visiting minister.

Tacho was accompanied, among others, by Urban development and housing department Chief Engineer cum Director Taba Tadir, DUDA DD George Nair, ADC K Riba and hordes of other dignitaries.

Earlier, in the morning hour, the urban minister visited the world famous WW-II cemetery to pay his tribute to the martyrs.

On the previous evening of December 20, the visiting minister interacted with various HoDs and also attended the advent Christmas celebration held at the private residence of local minister Setong Sena.

 

 

Crusade against child trafficking & child marriage

ITANAGAR, Dec 21:   The child trafficking and child marriage are the endemic social vices which the Puroik community has been fighting against since generations. To eradicate  the these social practices, All Puriok Welfare Society(APWS) had organized social service cum awareness campaign at Daiso village under Laporiang circle of Papum Pare district on 17th December last.  Altogether 200 hundreds people from the community attended the awareness campaign, a release said.

Taking serious note of child-trafficking and child marriage practiced in the community APWS President Kashok Hally said that child trafficking and child marriage are social evils and people should stop practising it.

 General Secretary Kapit Bechang strongly warned the gathering that if any of community members is found violating the law; stern action will be taken against particular person. He also said that persons who  indulge in child marriage, child trafficking and force marriage within the community,  will be brought under court of law, saying that no one has right to deprive the liberty of others.

Stressing on the value of education Bechang further said that every parents should send their wards to the school. The society also highlighted  the social evils  which hampers  the growth of community.

APWS also submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner Kurung Kumey district seeking management of land for the settlement of Puroik people at Koloriang.

It urged the authority to manage land for the community so that 40 Puroik families could establish their settlement in the town. It also urged the authority to effectively implement Indra Awaz Yojna under which scheme many Puroik families are supposed to get benefits.

 

 

Arunachal imposes power load restriction

Itanagar, Dec 21: Arunachal Pradesh government has imposed load restriction on power supply as per allocation with immediate effect in view of the onset of lean hydro season and subsequent reduction in the state’s allocation schedule.

"Since power availability and demand varies appreciably from time to time to short notice revision by various generating stations, the quantum of power allocated, duration of imposition and area to be covered may vary with time," an official order said.

All divisions and districts should strictly abide by all directives, verbal or otherwise, issued by the state level distribution centre (SLDC), Itanagar, on the matter, it said.

In the event of non-compliance by any division, the SLDC has been empowered as per State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC) and Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) regulations, to disconnect the entire division or district from the grid sub-station itself in order to protect the stability of the system, the order said.

The SLDC has been ordered to monitor hourly power drawl by all concerned and to report regularly on defaulting division and districts as recorded in the SLDC records for corrective action at appropriate levels.

The central sector to be transmitted through Assam-Arunachal inter-state transmission (IST) lines (11KV and 33KV) is allocated to SLDC Kahilipara in Assam.

Allocation of power to Chapakhowa in Assam would be routed through 33KV Rupai- Namsai IST lines and the distribution network of Arunachal Pradesh for which SLDC Kahilipara would make additional allocation to Chapakhowa through Rupai sub-station, the order said.

‘The SLDC Itanagar and Kahilipara will exchange information on flow of power and restrictions, if any on regular basis,’ the order added. PTI

SEPPA, Dec 21: The 2nd Mega Literacy, Cultural and Sports Meet  - 2013 of Pappu Valley, East Kameng district concluded yesterday.

Addressing the valedictory function RWD and Tourism Minister Pema Khandu said that education is only the key for ushering all round development in the society and without proper education; there is no question of progress in the society. He called upon the GBs and PRI members to contributes and put their heads together through village education committee for proper functioning of school in their respective village. He also advised the students to have discipline in life and called upon the people for preservation of tradition & culture.

Describing Tourism as a big industry, he said that we have lots of tourism potentials to take the state forward and the beginning has been done in this direction by conducting tourism mart at Tawang. Having impressed with the scenic beauty and potential of tourism in Pappu Valley, he assumed that an experts or tourism professional shall be deputed to examine the potentials and prepare details reports for promotion of tourism at Pappu Valley. Responding the public memorandum he assured to take up the tourist lodge at Lamdung.

Purpa Tsering, Parliamentary Secy. Science & Technology said that Pakke and Pappu Valley is blessed with feasible and available land for agriculture and if tapped properly will one day become the rice bowl of the state. He called upon the people to change the mindset by showing good behavior and hospitality for inflow of tourist in the state. He announced for setting up of water mill at Pappu Valley and Rs 2 lakhs for procurement of Science equipments for various schools within Pappu Valley. He also assured to take up 250 Kwt micro hydel at Pare River.

Tani Loffa, MLA cum Chairman Forest Corporation advocated for good relationship among students and teachers for academic excellence. He informed that the present Govt. is paying attention in sports Quota in Govt. job. He advised the students to concentrate more and specialized in a single item where one has believed to have more potentials and strength besides studies.

Fifth session of IMC takes up important issues

ITANAGAR, Dec 21: The fifth business session of Itanagar Municipal Council (IMC) which concluded on December 18 last constituted various sub-committees to prepare reports on various important issues  under the municipal council for necessary action.

On the issue of  reported forceful collection of donation and extortion of money from the traders under Municipal area by various organizations of the state, the house formed a sub-committee under the chairmanship of Kipa Takum, Councillor, Ward No-25 to make a detailed report in the issues of the market including parking problems which shall be submitted to the council in the next business meeting.

The Chief Councillor Higio Aruni constituted a sub-committee with Tarh Nachung, Member Empowered Standing Committee as the chairman for making a detailed report on the issues of garbage collection and disposal system under Solid waste Management under Itanagar municipal area. She also directed the Committee to make a detailed report on the fee structure for collection of civic charges from the house-hold units and to create a database of the household units and properties under IMC.

On the clarification sought by Kipa Takum on the ownership status of daily markets at Itanagar and Naharlagun, the CMEO and Municipal Secretary on direction of the Chief Councillor explained that the daily markets established and funded under various schemes by various departments was under disposal of General Administration. The council expressed their willingness to take over the assets if government desired so.

Also, a three member sub-committee under chairmanship of Tadik Tagru was constituted to look for such government properties and assets which required the attention of Itanagar Municipal Council in future. The said committee will also pursue the requirements of land and other assets required for the Itanagar Municipal Council.

At the end, Tarh Nachung informed the Council that the State Government has already transferred the some subjects including sanitation, burial ground and crematorium, slaughter house and cattle pounds and Urban Poverty Alleviation (SJSRY) to the Itanagar Municipal Council. While expressing gratitude to the Govt, the council assured to work for the interest and betterment of the citizens of the Capital Complex, according to an official release.

 

 

Let’s spread love, Sonam tells Christian brethrens

ITANAGAR, Dec 21: Arunachal Pradesh Building and Others Construction Workers Welfare Board Chairman Jalley Sonam asked the Christian brethrens to spread  the message love and  harmony among the people. He was speaking on a pre-Christmas celebration organized by East Kameng Christian Forum consists of different denominations of Christian in the district on Friday at General ground Seppa.  More than three thousands people took part in colourful event.

He said, “As a human being we can spread love and thought of Jesus Christ among all, so that peace and prosperity prevailed in the society. He also urged the Christian fellows to help and guide the needy people in the society while following the path of Christ.

Many colourful cultural programme were displayed to mark the event. Among others dignitaries present in the event were Rev. Likha Ama speaker of the programme, Khyoda Apik, President Christian Forum, Ramjo Pordung, Vice-President, Arunachal Christian forum (ACF)  and Tame Yangfo former M.L.A.

 

 

Jomo Middle School Celebrates Golden Jubilee

AALO, Dec 21: The Jomo Middle School which withstood the test of time to give quality education to the rural children wore a festive look as all luminaries, alumni, teachers, social workers and well wishers associated with the school congregated at large to go all out for celebrating the Golden Jubilee Year of the school at Jomo village on December 20 last.

The Primary school which was opened up a year after the Chinese Aggression exists today as a Middle School School in far better shape.

Attending the occasion, Prof. Dr. Tamo Mibang Vice Chancellor RGU termed the event simply as a home coming after a long years of isolation. I am tied with the school, the people, jungles and meadows where I spent my childhood and formative years to get basic education, he said while giving a nostalgia tinged account of his association with the land and people of Rumgong Subdivision.

Knowledge is powerful and the quest for knowledge is a never ending process and he exhorted the students to put in hard effort to inculcate wisdom and values of life to excel in life. Modernity is inevitable but it always important to preserve our culture and tradition to maintain our distinct identity. The Mithuns are unit of our property and need preservation as it is seen as economically viable animal.

He also unveiled the Golden Jubilee Pillar, released Souvenir and presented the felicitation to Tahang Mibang, the first teacher, Muhi Ram Bora, Best Teacher and Tarok Talom, the Cultural Doyen.

The first student of the school and Rumgong MLA Tamiyo Taga gave a vivid and memorable account of his school days at Jomo Primary school at that time and encouraged the teachers and students to build up the reputation of the school and urged the students to derive inspiration from the products of the school during the last 50 years. He also released the Golden Jubilee Calender on the occasion. Er. Tagom Ketan, Chief Engineer PHED, Taram Talom Organizing Chairman, Tahang Mibang, Muhi Ram Bora, Tahin Tamut, G Rama Murthy Headmaster and Taho Tadeng, Organizing Secretary also spoke on the occasion.

Tarik Talom,, a young and proud Entrepreneur associated with Asean agencies as Managing Director sponsored the felicitations besides sponsoring outstanding Achiever in academic field for class 1X, V111 and V11 with cash prizes of Rs.5000, 3000 and 2000 respectively with certificates.

Best social workers and Best school Secy were awarded on the occasion, First graduate Taling Pabin, first doctor Dr. Talung Tamut, first engineer Er. Tayi Taggu, first Agri BSC Tagam Tamut, first BSC Takop Taggu, first Bsc. forestry Tate Tadeng, first post graduate Pro. Dr. Tamo Mibang, first woman graduate Yamoni Taga and first lady doctor Dr. yaram Taga were also presented mementos on the occasion.

AAPLU celebrates foundation day

NIRJULI, Dec 21: All Arunachal Pradesh Labours Union (AAPLU) celebrated its first foundation day in an impressive function held at Nirjuli today. Former MLA of   Tali Constituency Takam Sorang attended the celebration along with  Director, Geology and Mining, Tassar Tallar and Assistant Registrar, Rajiv Gandhi  University, Nangram Toglik.

Addressing the gathering, Takam Sorang  termed the  labour community as the backbone of any country.  He urged the members to work hard with positive attitude for  all round development of the state. He also opined that ‘dignity of labour’ must be maintained.

Sorang  informed  that most of the  noble  leaders of the state have a background of labour, through their hard work and true determination they have achieved unmatched  success in their life which is  a source of inspiration for everyone.

Citing the ‘Mizoram Model’  as best  theory  for financial and  social development of a  state, where most of the  local youths are engaged in   very small and micro activities,  Sorang  also suggested the local denizens and organizations  to follow the path shown by Mizoram for self-employment and socio-economic development of youths.  He also urged the  people to respect  and recognize the contribution of the labour community and encourage them.

Extending best wishes to the members, President AAPLU, Dana Tadu highlighted the formation and grievances of the Union. Most of the labours in the state are treated as personnel domestic helper that too with meager salary which is very unfortunate, added Tadu. While  opposing  the  recent  state government order on Recruitment Rule (RR) for  contingency employee, he said “we urged the concern  authority  to  amend the  recent RR  and make  atleast 15 years  instead  of  20 years to  be  posted as  regular job  holder in government sectors.”

  Among others, Director, G&M, T Tallar, Assistant Registrar, RGU, N Toglik, General Secretary, AAPLU, Rigam Talar, Assistant Project Officer, SSA, Tori Gadi, Chairman Organizing   committee, Tame Akin also spoke on the occasion. Apart from regular program cultural event were also organized to mark the day. Members of AAPLU from, Anjaw, Anini, Along, Capital unit and from other various district were attended the celebration.

 

 

GHSS Dumporijo celebrates Golden Jubilee

ITANAGAR, Dec 21: The Golden Jubilee Celebration of Government Higher Secondary School Dumporijo concluded on December 16 last.

Addressing the valedictory function Upper Subansiri District Deputy Commissioner Tahang in his speech, reminded the students to keep aloof from the undisciplined practices of drinking and smoking. He said that it is the duty of the students to preserve the image, prestige and dignity of the school as well as the district.  He admired the achievements of Govt Higher Secondary School Dumporijo as the premier educational institution in the district and promised all support from the District Administration for the good cause of the school. Y. Nalo, ZPM and Same Timba, DPO, officers, parents, students and general public also attended the function.

Earlier, the function was inaugurated by Education Minister Bosiram Siram on December 15.

In his inaugural speech, Siram stressed on hard work to attain success in life, he also urged students as well as the gathering to give equal treatment to male and female children and to discourage child marriage.

He briefed about the initiatives taken by the present state government to encourage education, particularly among the girl children.

Sushil Nalo, President, Upper Subansiri Zilla Parishad, advised the students to utilize their maximum time in their studies.

Takar Marde, the Local MLA cum Deputy Chairman, State Planning Board, advised the students to be committed in their studies and advocated them to imbibe good qualities.

During the two days celebration, cultural, literary and games and sports events were conducted besides felicitating three successful alumni such as achievers of NEFA Scholarship Award Tara Bulo, Tali Bulo and Tayum Bage as well as presentation of citation to outstanding contributors to the school in its preliminary stage Late Binya  Marde, Taro Bui and alumnus Takar Marde, Local MLA cum Dy Chairman, State Planning Board.

The inaugural function of the celebration was attended by HODs, officers, political leaders, alumni, general public, Lt Col Pradeep Thapa and Major Manoj Chaudhury of 15th SIKHLI Regiment.
